Located in Chardon, Ohio, Resilient Acres is the passionate start-up community of the Bennett and Cassella families.
The pristine 120 acre is made up of two 3 acre homesteads, 60 organic farm or pasture acres and 40+
of woodland wonderland. The main campus is currently under a full restoration.
It historic Farmhouse will welcome eco travelers and guest looking for healing to the property. The Farmhouse will offer guest a unique Air B&B experience and also be home of like minded food and herb centered businesses like, Light Footsteps, owned and operated by property own Christine Cassella.
The massive barn, atop the hill, was used for decades as a dairy. The top floor will be converted into an event space while the bottom will be home to our farm equipment and other farm infrastructure.
Chrysalis will occupy the second home and host an alternative agriculturally based wellness clinic. This is where those we take in can meet with functional internists, therapist, counselors, and advisers. Staci, will also have her midwifery practice in this space.
Those coming to us needing overnight or long term care will stay in Starlight Cottage. This 2 bedroom sanctuary offers a space of healing like no other. This space will be the soul of our efforts here and we look forward to getting that building up and running asap. Chrysalis is honored to have the opportunity to help manage this project and call this wonderful property home!
Resilient Acres is now home to Chrysalis Community and together our goal is to raise food in a bio-diverse permaculture environment, doing our best to let creation do the work so we can heal people. We believe in the healing and restorative properties of food and want the greater community to know we here to represent small craft farms and sustainable farming practices. Our Organically Grown Non-GMO Heirloom Produce will be grown under the guidance of Paul Gauchy (Back to Eden). Our meat and dairy products will be from Rotational Grazed Animals on Organic Pastures (Joel Salitan). Our medicinal herbs will be grown like nowhere in the world…100% unique. We will also look to do some Pasture Cropping of Grains and other Cash Crops as well as harvest Honey and Maple Syrups from our 30 acres of maple forest. All our food will be for sale to the public through our Community Supported Agriculture shares program starting in Spring 2020. We hope you join us in both changing the way food is grown and changing the lives of others!
We are looking to raise $62,500 more to ensure Chrysalis becomes a home of transformation and new life!
This property will begin to generate income immediately, raising chickens, growing organic produce and pasturing cattle. This Spring (2019) we look to convert 7+ acres to an Organic Permaculture Medicinal Herb Farm.
This past Spring 2018 we moved our 100 Americauna chickens in to this amazing chicken tractor home. We will be following Joel Sallatin’s methods even through the winter. With the help of amazing supporters we will be completely enclosing the tractor with greenhouse plastic to provide a warm home we will use 3 fold. First as a safe winter home for our broiler and layer breed stock, second as a way to fertilize our produce garden…the tractor will be moved all over the produce acre this winter and lastly and a greenhouse for our spring seedlings! We still need some help so donate today!
